PORTRAITS OF HONOUR HERE TODAY

Please stop by the Crystal Centre Parking lot anytime after 11 AM today to honour Canada’s fallen troops by visiting the Portraits of Honour National Tour, a memorial that is stopping in Grande Prairie today (September 7) on its 100 City tour of Canada.

157 Canadian Forces Members who lost their lives in Afghanistan are pictured on the memorial. We especially remember Private Kevin Kennedy and Master Corporal Timothy Wilson for their connections to Grande Prairie.

At 6PM Doors will open at the Crystal Gardens for our Friends of the Fallen Gala fundraising dinner, with special guest speaker Paul Franklin. A few tickets are still available at the Crystal Centre Box office for $100 each. A full dinner will be served, and respectful dress is requested.

FRIENDS OF THE FALLEN GALA

We are pleased to announce that the FRIENDS OF THE FALLEN GALA in support of Canadian Military families will take place at the Bowes Family Crystal Gardens on September 7 at 6 pm. Special Guest Master Corporal (Retired) Paul Franklin will share his story of his service in Afghanistan which cost him both of his legs. Tickets are $100 each and available through the Crystal Centre Box Office at 780-538-0387. Personalized wreaths will be displayed on the memorial and at the event on behalf of purchasers of 8 tickets or more.

The Gala will be part of the Portraits of Honour National Tour, which stops at the Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie on September 7 and will be available for free public viewing from 11AM until 7pm in the Crystal Centre parking lot.

Royal Visit to Portraits of Honour

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, paid tribute to Canada’s fallen soldiers in Calgary on July 8 by laying a wreath on the Portraits of Honour memorial. The same memorial will be visiting Grande Prairie on September 7. The Kin Club of Grande Prairie will host a fundraising event at the Bowes Family Crystal Gardens in conjunction with the visit to raise funds for military families.

On September 7, 2011, The Kin Club of Grande Prairie will host the national tour of “Portraits of Honour” a joint initiative of Artist Dave Sopha, Kin Canada, and the Kin Canada Foundation to raise awareness and funds to support Canada’s veterans of the Afghanistan mission, and the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
